The technical crew of the Golden Eaglets has advised Nigerians to be wary of mischief makers bent on destroying the genuine efforts of the team towards qualification for the CAF 2013 Under-17 African Youth Championship.
Suleiman Abubakar, the Golden Eaglets' Co-ordinator said there is no iota of truth about a spurious post on the social media alleging that one over-aged Musa Yaya is in the team’s camp here in Calabar.
The player in question featured in a link posted on Facebook via YouTube (Saltland Players For Trial-YouTube) but a quick check on the Musa Yaya left so much to be desired since he has no relationship whatsoever with the Golden Eaglets.
Abubakar described the description as unfortunate and wicked, adding that the report should be disregarded by Nigerians since it is of no consequence to the team.
“That post on Facebook has nothing to do with our team and we wonder what the motive behind this was?" Suleiman asked rhetorically." That this was even posted on a social media without cross checking with officials of the team or the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is an act of irresponsibility.
" For the avoidance of doubt, there is no Musa Yaya here with us in Calabar. The NFF had long published the list of the 30 players in camp and there is no over-aged Musa Yaya with us," explained Suleiman.
It would be recalled that the 30 players in camp have been subjected to stringent screening including documentary evidences as well as the mandatory Magnetic Resonance Image (MRI) test before they were given the carte-blanche to play for the National Under-17 team.
“For the avoidance of doubt, this set of players has gone through all the regulatory procedures including the MRI test,"added Suleiman." We should be left alone to concentrate on the assignment at hand."
