House Committee On Sports Commends Governor Babatunde Fashola.

The House Committee on Youth, Sports and Social Development, has given Governor Babatunde Fashola, a pass mark for paying eighty percent of the contract sum to the various contractors handling the renovation works of sports equipment in readiness for the EKO 2012 Games in November.
Its Chairman, Babatunde Ayeni, made this statement when he embarked on a tour of facilities aongside his committee members, Honorable Rotimi Olowo and Honorable Bashir Oloto.
Ayeni, who was elated over the spate of renovation works at the Lagos State Sports Council which comprises of the Indoor Sports shall, the Outside courts, Squash court, Wrestling gym, Sports Medicine Association building, commended the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Social development as well as the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure for living up to expectations.
The lawmaker urged the supervisory Ministry to design a means of monitoring the activities of the contractors in order to meet up with the Main Organising Committee deadline of First of October, 2012, adding that it would be a disgrace if the M.O.C that are expected to inspect the sports facilities discovered that the accredited venues are not at completion stage, hence the reason the supervisory Ministries must not relent in their efforts to beat the deadline.
He advised the supervisory Ministries to mount pressure on the construction company,Deux Project, handling the renovation works at the Teslim Balogun and Agege Stadia to redouble the efforts by making the sports complex ready for use before the M.O.C final inspection in November.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths, Sports, Adepoju Adelana Conde, said the committee's observations were germain and relevant to the Ministry's position in organising the best ever National Sports Festival.
Conde, assured that the Ministry would intimate Deux Project on the snags noticed by the Committee during their tour of facilities as he believed that he contractor would heed to the committee's advise.
