Ajao Jimoh Dazzles In South Africa.

The first runner up of the 2012 edition of Lagos MTN Street Soccer Championship, Season 5, Ajao Jimoh Street Club boys dazzles in Johannesburg, South Africa to the delight of fans.

The team training under Coach Eric Bafana of Sandton Sports Club had a two-day training sessions on day-two and three (Wednesday and Thursday) of arrival and according to Coach Eric, the boys showed that in any football match they would give a very good account of themselves.

Ajao Jimoh Street Club capped day-three which is Thursday, 10th January, 2013 with thorough trouncing of the Sandton Football Club in a five a-side game which took place at Sandton Sports Club complex at 5.30pm South Africa time.

The match was like a training session for an 11 man team match already planned for Friday, 11th January, 2013 which is the day-four of the playing tour of South Africa.

As envisaged, Ajao Jimoh Street Club at the 11 man match of Friday overpowered their opponent, the Tuks Football Club, Pretoria at the University of Pretoria Sports arena 2 – 1 to prove their supremacy to the delight of the local fans in a thirty minutes halve of three.

The Tuks FC team and coaches commended the prowess, skills and discipline displayed by Ajao Jimoh team while hoping that the team would extend its stay in South Africa.

 Meanwhile some football scouts in South Africa that were among the spectators had shown interests in four of the Ajao Jimoh Street Club members, the officials indicated their willingness to give the boys the opportunities being offered but with the proviso that proper documentation must be adhered to in order to facilitate the scouts interests and protect the boys from exploitations.

 Hon. Ajao Jimoh, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Housing, who is the owner of Ajao Jimoh Street Club and also on the delegation of the South Africa playing tour, commended his boys for their good behavior, discipline and good skills displayed at the training sessions and at the matches played so far.

He admonished them that if they keep up with their present performances the world would be at their feet. He also said that with these scintillating performances, he is ready to be more committed to taking more youth off the streets of Lagos and enjoined them other Lagosians with means to empower the youth through football.

The leader of the team to South Africa, Mr. olumide Filade, the Public Relations Officer, Office of Sports, Lagos State Ministry of Youth, Sports and Social Development and Local Organising Committee member, Lagos MTN Street Soccer Championship, Season five commended the boys and said they should continue to be good ambassadors of Lagos State, MTN and Nigeria even when they return home and wherever they find themselves in future.

Meanwhile Alhaji Tijani Azeez, a member of the Local Organising Committee of the Lagos MTN Street Soccer Championship, Season five on the tour said the Season five championship has been the best organized so far in the history of the championship and concluded by also saying that the next season championship would witness even better organization.

Mr. Wahid Enitan Oshodi, the Honourable Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Lagos State in a telephone conversation with the team wishes the team well and implored them to be of good character and behavior. He also mentioned that the boys should hone and display maximum skills in order to maximize opportunities provided by this tour to South Africa.
