President of FIFA, Joseph Blatter has congratulated the Nigeria Football Federation,NFF, on the success of the Super Eagles at the 29th Africa Cup of Nations finals in South Africa.
In a letter dated 14th February and addressed directly to Maigari, Blatter eulogized the NFF President, Aminu Maigari, commended the federation for wining their third title and first for nearly tweny years the African Cup of Nations, stressing that it is great to see the Super Eagles back as one of Africa’s strongest footballing nations.
The FIFA President enjoined the Federation to coney his warmth wishes to all the football players, the the technical and medical staff, and in particular to Stephen Keshi who according to him is the only second man to lift the trophy as both captain and national team coach.
He said Keshi was a great example to other African associations of what they could achieve through long-term planning and employing local coaches as he also thanked Nigeria soccer fans who were present at the final or their support that geared the team to victory.
Also, President of the Spanish Football Federation, Angel Maria Villar Llona, also congratulated Aminu Maigaria and the NFF for the triumph, saying the Super Eagles are back and all the football supporters are happy for the feat achieved at the African soccer fiesta.
African champions Nigeria will play Oceanian champions Tahiti, Uruguay and World and European champions Spain at the FIFA Confederations Cup starting in Brazil on 15 June.
