Nigeria Exiles, a team made up of Nigerians living and playing rugby in the UK, recorded an excellent 52-5 win over the Zimbabwe Exiles side to start 2013 with a bang!
Nigeria ran in eight tries, four in each half, to record a big win over rivals Zimbabwe Exiles. After a scrappy first ten minutes forward’s leader James Doherty finished off a driven maul to open the scoring.
Nigeria’s international captain, David Akinluyi, then scored an individual breakaway try which Aristide Goualin duly converted.
Nigeria started putting phases together and despite valiant tackling from the Zimbabwe players tries came for new boy Gbade Adewola and super league star Will Sharp.
The management team rung the changes at half team to take the opportunity to look at new players and were rewarded with a quick fire brace from Ben Adubi who looked on fine form as well as a try from Simon Roberts (Moyo Osinibi) who went from his own ten metre line.
The bigger and stronger Nigerian forwards put the sword into the Zimbabweans and with a try finished by Maynard "Buff" Alozie. Tiwa Obisesan kicked four from four to give the selectors a real headache moving towards the Africa Nations Cup.
