NFF: Night of Stars, Great Prelude To Nigeria Pitch Awards

The Nigeria Football Federation has commended organizers of the Night of Stars ceremony, which took place in Calabar at the weekend, saying it was a great prelude for the upcoming Nigeria Pitch Awards.
Matchmakers Consult International Limited, endorsed by the NFF to organize the Nigeria Pitch Awards, which inaugural edition comes up later in the year, put up a good show with the Night of Stars ceremony at the Transcorp Hotels, Calabar on Saturday night.
Chairman of the NFF Media and Publicity Committee, Chief Emeka Inyama said: “The event was a success, and Matchmakers should be praised for its efforts and the genuineness of its intentions. The young man (Shina Philips) has great ideas, and on the evidence of what we saw in Calabar, NFF is not averse to supporting him and his company to make a statement with the Awards proper.
“It was a credible show, with sincerity of purpose. The Executive Governors of Cross River and Rivers States were represented, Super Eagles’ captain and team officials and the NFF Executive Committee members and Management were there in full force, alongside prominent stakeholders in the Nigeria game and top Nollywood superstars.”
At the Night of Stars, where the theme song for the Nigeria Pitch Awards was rendered and A-list stand-up comedian Julius Agwu entertained, awards were given to Globacom Nigeria Limited, NFF
President Aminu Maigari and the Executive Governors of Cross River and Rivers States for their tremendous contributions to the development of the Nigeria game.
Governor Liyel Imoke, CON was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, with several other members of the Cross River State Government, including Sports Commissioner Patrick Ugbe in attendance. Governor Rotimi Amaechi, CON was represented by Sports Commissioner
Fred Igwe.
Super Eagles’ captain Vincent Enyeama and attacking midfielder Victor Moses were in attendance, as well as Assistant Coaches Daniel Amokachi, Sylvanus Okpala, Ike Shorounmu and Valere Hounadinou, and the entire backroom staff.
NFF Executive Committee members dignified the auditorium alongside General Secretary, Barrister Musa Amadu, Director of Technical, Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme and Director of Marketing, Mr. Idris Adama.
