The Super
Eagles had their last training session on Friday evening in Abidjan
with special focus by Head Coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi on junior
international, Alhaji Abdulahi Gero.
Gero's
sudden rise may not be unconnected with the injury to top striker, Gambo
Mohammed, who had to be left out unfortunately at the last minute by
the technical crew, but the Enugu Rangers forward seem to fit perfectly
into the mould of Gambo, with his strong build, good height and very
sharp reaction in front of goal.
He was competing with the other
strikers as at the time of this report for a starter's shirt, but with
Keshi you never can tell.
There was
general composure for the team as there was no injury worries and the
support staff of the NFF led by Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, was firmly on ground
to push the team all the way.
In his final address to the team after
training on Friday evening, Keshi declared that he has absolute belief
in the ability of the players to overcome any team in Africa, but again
urged them to have belief in themselves.
"Nothing good comes easy and am
sure that by the end of Saturday we will be the team smiling home with
the CHAN ticket", he said.
