As 2013/2014 league seasons kick off this weekend across Europe, leading sports television channel, SuperSport, says Nigerian viewers should expected in depth coverage of the football leagues and other sporting events.

Speaking at a pre-soccer season parley with the sporting press on Thursday at the secretariat of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Lagos ,SWAN, inside the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, General Manager, SuperSport, Felix Awogu, said SuperSport, a South African group of television channels owned by Multichoice and carried on the DStv satellite platform, would strive hard to keep to its traditions to give its viewers the best as the seasons kick off.

“We know that football is the king of sport, that is why we keep all our rights intact for our viewers to enjoy good matches both live and recorded this season. It won’t be a boring moment as we planned over 1,500 games to be broadcast live through the season. This will result to 3.5 percent live matches daily. We’ll be having two dedicated HD channels for soccer alone for the season. Matches of the English Premier League, EPL, will be broadcast live,” he said.

Awogu , said the Nigerian Glo Premier League would be given a high priority as SuperSport is looking forward to the league becoming one of the best leagues very soon.

“We’ll be having live studio for the Glo Premier League this season, a Category A Production. Our plan is to deveout resources to the coverage of the league in conjunction with the League Managemnet Company, LMC, which has been given us enopugh support.

“We are happy that Nigeria’s Super Eagles qualified for the CHAN which will take place in South Africa. Nigerians should expect matches of this competition live, while matches of D’Tigers will be shown live at the African Basketball Nations Cup,  Afrobasket in Ivory Coast,” Awogu said.
