Dodan Warriors and Deep Bond Basketball Clubs have been crowned the champions of the Lagos International Basketball Classics in a competition that came to an end over the weekend at the Lagos Sports Council, Rowe Park, Yaba.
In the senior category, Dodan Warriors were unbeaten and they rounded off their good form with a resounding victory in the final, while Deep Bond halted the dream of International School, Lagos (ISL) to emerge as champion in the Under 17 category.
Dodan Warriors’ efforts was rewarded with three hundred thousand naira while Deep Bond got one hundred thousand naira for their feat as each member of Deep Bond got fifteen thousand naira voucher to get a Puma brand canvass.
According to the technical director of the tournament, Gbade Olatana, the tournament lived up to its billing as all the participating teams gave good account of themselves, while the eventual winners also deserved the victory.
“I think the competition was so high in terms of quality of play as all the teams really put up good show. The tournament especially the final was very colourful as the matches were played under floodlight late into the night. This alone brought a lot of glamour into the competition and for us, it worth it. I think, a lot of quality players took part in the competition and we hope it will continue next year,” Olatana said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman, Main Organising Committee (MOC) of the Lagos Sports Classics, Wahid Oshodi, has commended all the teams that took part in the competition, while promising more colorful events as the taekwondo and squash classics take centre stage.
