Jury Suspends Two Bouts As 14 Finalists Emerge In Boxing Event.

The Jury at the on-going National Youth Games, NYG, in Abuja, has suspended two bouts as fourteen finalists emerged in boxing event.
Eight of the finalists who emerged are male category, while six are female.
The suspended bouts included that of Lawson Shakini of Osun and Abdullahi Sanni from Kano, while the second was the bout involving Usama Muhammed of Kano and Aremu Rasheed Ogun State as both fights were suspended on technical grounds.
The male bout had David David fighting in the male 51 kilogramme, becoming the first to book a final ticket after he dazed John Olagbenro to qualify.
Wasiu Aderemi from Kwara beat Yakubu Awalu from Kano State while Ekire Paul representing Cross river, defeated Mohammed Umar in the 54 kilogramme to book final spots.
Onukwa Stanley of Enugu State brushed aside Uchenta Fabian of Ondo in the 57 kilogramme through a technical knockout in round three, Bernard Kayode from Gombe State outpunched Asuquo Edem from Cross River through a split decision to qualify for te final.
Akpan Joshua from Akwa Ibom, won through a unanimous decision against Bawa Anyado from Nasarawa, while Agbo Kenechukwu from Enugu, cruised to final with a 2-1 split decision to defeat Musa Jazuli from Kwara.
The finals of the various weight categories will take place today at the Abuja National stadium velodrom, venue of the boxing event.
