Lagos Sports Council, NAPHER – SD Collaborate on Grassroots Sports

In a bid to consolidate on the effort of Lagos State Government in the are grassroots sports development in the State, the Lagos State Sports Council and Nigeria Association of Physical and Health Education, Sports and Dance (NAPHER-SD), Lagos State Chapter have set in motion plans to collaborate in their area.
This collaboration was secured when NAPHER-SD Executive Committee paid a courtesy call on the Director of Sports, Lagos State, Dr. Kweku Tandoh at Lagos State Sports Council, Rowe Park Sports Complex, Yaba.
NAPHER-SD, an organization set up to encourage, support and promote the development of physical education, health education, sports and other in all Institutions of Learning , all public and private establishments and organizations in Lagos State in particular and Nigeria in general.
According to the Chairman, Lagos State Chapter of NAPHER-SD, Dr. Raheem Moronfolu, the Association operates in 20 Zones in Lagos State with Zonal Coordinators running its affairs.
He disclosed that NAPHER –SD as a Professional Association is ready to assist Lagos State Sports Council in achieving some of its set down programs towards improving and develop sports at the grassroots. Adding that together with the Lagos Sports Council, a high performance laboratory that can help in the improvement of athletes and coaches psychology and development of sports at the grassroots as obtainable in developed world will be set up.
He went further that his Association is ready to submit to Lagos State Sports Council a proposed 10 years sports developmental plan for the grassroots level.
Responding, Director of Sports, Lagos State, Dr. Kweku Tandoh thanked the Chairman and other Executive Committee Members of NAPHER-SD for their visit, adding that with this new collaboration with a professional association like NAPHER-SD whose presence is in 20 Zones in Lagos State, it
