Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Farouk Umar Alao has
expressed dissatisfaction with poor state of the Shooting Stars Office
saying it does not befit the status of notable club like the Oluyole
Warrior, thus call for total repackaging of the club house.
Alao, smarting from his marriage over the weekend paid an unscheduled visit to the club office on Monday and said the place need to be rebuilt or get a better place for the team in
order to be ranked among the best in the country, saying the club house is not a place be proud of despite the club been in existence for so many years .
He said "This is the only club we have in Ibadan and the way the place is,is not befitting at all because after 45 years of existence of the club, I don't expect this place to be like this, with the new technology we now have across the country.
Is it that people that have served in this ministry has done nothing? The past Sports commissioners should have elevated this place because this is football club office not a bear parlour so we need a better home for the team where visitors can relax and sleep.
Alao continued,"club house should look like a home, so we need a beffiting club house like the one of Manchester United, Chelsea and the likes that has a lot of facilities basketballcourt, Table tennis and a good gym where players can exercise their body, I mean those thing we used to see in abroad.
"As I was made to believe, this place is a rented apartment but I believe Odua will soon release it for us with the help of our amiable governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi".
The commissioner however called on the acting chairman of the club, Senator Tunde Anifowose-Kelani to draft a memo to his office and state the area the ministry can beg Senator Abiola Ajimobi to assist in putting the place to an enviable position that will be more comfortable to players, officials and members of the public, "this place need to be repackage than what I'm seeing. We need proper infrastructure in other to reposition this club now that we are here".
Meanwhile, acting chairman, Kelani assure the commissioner that they will turn in their letters and proposal so that the club can be a condusive area to work.
"Commissioner,
I think we are working with the same spiritbecause we have been
complaining about this place but now that you raise the matter, I know
God will use you for betterment of this place," he said.
Also,
outgoing Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Elder
Kehinde Akintunde urged the management of the club to must give support
to the new Sports Commissioner, in other to make the ministry envy of
others.
"This is a charismatic commissioner with good character and I know you will all give him support to achieve here at the ministry of Youth and Sports. We need to move this place within a month and I know it is achivable," she said.
Present at the meeting are; Ade Somefun, head technical committee of the club and other board members as well as the coaching crew and some of the players.
