Oyekan Wins Opeifa Padfootball Competition.

The organisers of Opeifa Padfootball competition have expressed satisfaction with the successful staging of this year's edition of the computer based game which ended over the weekend at the Abanikanda Hall, Agege.

Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Kayode Opeifa, who explianed that the competition which is designed for residents of Agege, Ifako- Ijaye and Ojokoro, said the tournament which attracted over one thousand applicants was designed to recognise and help the players to develop their skills.

Opeifa, said he game which is prevalent in most of the viewing centres in the state was elevated and re-structured to create a platform where the youths converged on to express their skills in an efforts to add value to their career, stressing that this year's edition has shown that there is a need to expand the scope of Opeifa Padfootball competition.


With numerous corporate bodies and sports philanthropists hace declared their interest to partner with the organising committee, the Commissioner for Transportation, confirmed that subsequent editions would not only be limited to Agege and its environs but it would accommodate other padfootball players across the state in an effort that would b etagged Llagos State Padfootball Competition.

He said Segun Oyekan, who defeated Tunde Bello, in the final would embark on a tour of England, courtesy of the organisers couple with a cash gift of one hundred thousand naira.

Speaking on his feat, Segun Oyekan, who defeated Bello, six- nil, in a home match before losing to his opponents Bello, in an away match, 4- 2 to amass a eight point to four goals aggregate, said he would expend the cash gift on his education and vocational skills, Computer Engineer.

Oyekan, an Ordinary National Diploma,OND, of Accountancy from Federal Polythenic, ILaro, attributed the feat to his mother persistent prayers.
