As the monitoring of
national team players continues ahead of the Brazil 2014 World Cup, the only
injured player of the team, Leon Aderemi Balogun of German side, Fortuna
Dusseldorf, has revealed that in two weeks time he should be fit to run like a
footballer.
Speaking from his German base on progress made so far
regarding his recovery after getting injured in the international friendly
against Mexico last month in Atlanta, USA, Balogun said his recovery has been
phenomenal thanks to the support of his German clubside and those of the
Nigeria Football Federation.
“As I speak with you, I just came back from the gym”, the
told Super Eagles Media Officer; Ben Alaiya. He continues, “and it didn’t just
start I have been going through the routine and should be doing bike next week,
but all the medics have said is that I should take it a step at a time and
hopefully I should be doing ‘Cross Trainer’ next week, which should prepare me
for physical running in two weeks time, but I have removed all encumberances on
my toe and walk freely”, he said.
As he has always maintained, Balogun thanked the leadership
of the Nigeria Football Federation headed by Alhaji Aminu Maigari, for not only
visiting him through Technical Committee boss, Barr. Christopher Green, but for standing by him through thick and
thin.
He also revealed that Head Coach, Stephen Keshi has been in constant
touch with him and he was sure that he will make a great impact in the national
team, if he was selected for the Mundial 2014 championship.
“I am happy that I chose to play for Nigeria,
because this injury has shown how caring our people are, the promise I will
make is that if I make the World Cup squad I will give my all at the
championship”.
