Lagos State Speaker's Soccer Cup Kick- Off Next Wednesday

 

   The 2014 edition of the Lagos state house of Assembly speaker's cup football competition has reached the round of 16 and the remaining teams have been drawn in a knock out-format while the defending champions, Surulere local government was drawn bye to the next round. 

The competition which commenced two months ago will continue on wednesday 10th of September and the Agege township stadium will host all matches. 

In the round of 16 draws conducted on wednesday at the ‎the lagos state house of Assembly, Mushin will face Agege, Onigbongbo will square up against Lagos mainland, Ikosi Isheri will do battle with Lagos Island and Ibeju Lekki confronts Mosan Okunla.

Bariga will play Oshodi, Orile Agege will trade tackles with Ojo, Ifako Ijaiye versus Amuwo Odofin and Ojodu will entertain Kosofe.

Speaking after the draw was held, chairman house committee on youth, sports and social development, honourable Lawrence Babatunde Ayeni said the has bee‎n peaceful so far while assuring fans of adequate security at the Agege stadium venue of the speakers cup.

Ayeni added that the objective of the competition is to discover talents capable of representing the state at the forthcoming national sports festival in Calabar, hence the decision to use the Lagos junior league teams.

Meanwhile, Mosan Okunola LCDA football team that finished third last year presented their trophy to the house committee on sports, organizers of the competition and redeemed their cash reward. Honourable Ayeni presented a cheque of 200,000 to the team coach.

The finals of this year's edition has been fixed for October 2nd at the Agege township stadium.
