Plateau
Tigers RFC, Barewa RFC and Zaria RFC have secured the final slots
for
this year’s Independence Rugby 7’s championship
from
the Northern Region
. While the withdrawal of Marlins RFC of UK paved the way for
Royal Stallions Rugby Football club of Ilorin to secure a slot for t
he championship.
Following
this development,Technical Director of the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation and
tournament manager Fasimoye Olatunji has
confirmed that the following sixteen teams
; Alexander RFC of Egypt,
Ghana's
Cosmos Buffalos, Botswana Vultures, Nigerian Exile RFC from the UK,
Defending Champions
Police
Machine of Lagos, Cowrie, Racing, Hawkster Athletics and Gosar Rugby
Football Clubs also of Lagos, Zaria RFC, Barewa RFC, Plateau Tigers RFC
of Jos, Abuja RFC, Abia Buffalos,
South-South RFC and Royal Stallions of Ilorin
will be participating in this year’s championship
come
October 31st to 1st of November 2014 at the Onikan Stadium in Lagos.
He
further stated that the teams will be grouped into four groups
consisting four teams each and will play for CUP, Plate, Bowl and Shield
trophies.
