After the Zamfara Shooters won the Nigerian Basketball Federation National Division 2 championship and gained promotion to next year’s National Division 1 last Saturday, attention shifts to the 2014 National Division One championship in Abuja , as 12 teams battle for promotion to the Dstv Premier Basketball League.
In the opening day fixtures FCT Rocks narrowlly peeped the (NSCDC) Defenders 76-73, Hoops and Read Basketball club defeated Osun State Lions 65-42 while the Dashion Mambas from Plateau beat APA Flames 76-68.
In other fixtures Delta Force wrapped up Raptors basketball club of Lagos by 58-52 points, while the Kano Pyramids was too high for the Benue Braves as they fell to the pyramids 87 to 76 points. The last game of the day saw T-Joba Talents beat Base Hawks(formerly Naf Rockets) 69-65 in an action soaked encounter. Action continues today at Package B, National Stadium, Abuja.
