Nwanze Predicts Better Future For Futsal Football In Lagos

Chairman Futsal Worldwide Nigeria Limited, Moses Nwanze has predicted better future for futsal football in Lagos.

Nwanze disclosed this during the launch of Futsal/ Foot Volley put together by Futsal Worldwide Nigeria & Nigeria Brazil Futebol Academy in partnership with Lagos State Football Association.

In his welcome address, Nwanze said the introduction of futsal football in Lagos will help Nigeria to excel in future FIFA Futsal World Cup and other Futsal international football competitions.

Although, he agreed that the Futsal has not really popular like other sports in Lagos saying that with the launch of Futsal football in Lagos, attention will be shifted to the sport henceforth.

“We introduce Futsal football so that our players will be able to think fast and get more stamina when they are playing in standard football pitch. Secondly, Futsal football is an ideal game for football development.

And it will help our players to have strength, skills and think fast when they are playing in a full field.” he said.

He said if Futsal football play regularly in Lagos and other part of the country, Nigeria may have added advantage over other Africa countries in FIFA Futsal World Cup qualifying matches.

“ I am happy that many footballers are playing five aside football competitions in the street of Lagos.It shows that the game is gradually gaining ground, what the players to do is to understand the rules of the game and involve in international competitions,” he said.

In his own comment, Vice chairman of Nigeria Football Federation, Barrister Seyi Akiwunmi expressed delight with the introduction of Futsal football in Lagos saying that Nigeria Football Federation, NFF and Lagos State Football Association, LASFA will give technical support to ensure that Futsal football succeeds not only in Lagos and the country at large.

“This is a laudable project and time has come to focus on Futsal football. Futsal football is popular in South America and Europe and some part of Africa countries so we do everything within our power to ensure that Nigeria qualify for the next FIFA Futsal World Cup in 2016.
