Ahead of the CAF Under 23 Cup of Nations championship in Senegal, Head coach of Nigeria's Olympic team, Samson Siasia, says he would invite Manchester City star, Kelechi Iheanacho and Liverpool's Taiwo Awoniyi to the team.
While speaking with our sports correspondent, on telephone, the former Super Eagles coach, who was not happy with the inability
of his team to score enough goals at the just concluded All African Games in Congo Brazzaville, said he needed the two prolific strikers who are endowed with goal scoring skills, to beef up the team, ahead of the Championship in Senegal, billed to start in November.
Siasia, who is optimistic that the team would get better before the
competition, said he was also working on the team's defense line,
following their inability to win a Gold medal at the AAG in Congo
Brazzaville.
According to him, the presence of Iheanacho and Awoniyi, with other invited Nigeria's foreign based professionals, would give the team an edge to win the Championship in Senegal, thereby, qualifying for the Rio 2016 Olympics in Brazil.
He revealed that, the Olympic team, which had been grouped with Egypt, Algeria and Mali in Group B, would play international friendlies in October, to further boost the team's fitness and also to put the squad in good shape.
