The maiden edition of Jubilee Life 2016 Redeemers Secondary Schools Games-South West, Nigeria, will this weekend begins in Lagos and Ogun States.
The competition, sponsored by Jubilee Life Mortgage Bank, will see seven Redeemers Secondary schools in both Lagos and Ogun states taking part in Soccer (boys), Volleyball (girls) and Basketball (boys and girls) in the first edition this year.
The schools are Covet The Redeemer's College, Idimu, Lagos, Redeemer's
High School, Redemption Camp, Redemption Gate Secondary School, Oko Oba,
Christ The Redeemer's College, Sagamu, Redeemer's College, Ilaro,
Christ The Redeemer's School, Gbagada, Lagos and Redeemer's
International Secondary School, Maryland, Lagos.
According to Head of Event Ceremony, Mrs. Hannah Agunkejoye, the schools are grouped into two zones.
Schools in Ogun state will play their one day round robin preliminary matches on Wednesday, 27 January at Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu, while schools in Lagos zone will play their preliminary matches at University of Lagos Sports Centre, Akoka on Thursday, 28 January.
After the preliminary matches, winning schools will qualify for the semi finals scheduled for 3 February, while final matches and a closing ceremony will hold at The Redemption Camp on 11 February.
"The maiden edition of Jubilee Life 2016 Redeemers Secondary Schools Games will feature schools in Lagos and Ogun states. A five-man Local Organising Committee (LOC) has been inaugurated to see to the successful organization of this competition," said Mrs. Agunkejoye.
