NFF President Amaju
Pinnick and General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi will be in Accra, Ghana on
Tuesday for the Ordinary Congress of the West African Football Union (Zone B).
Top on the agenda of the
day is the election of a new president for the Zone, who will serve for the
period 2016-2020. Incumbent Kwesi Nyantakyi, who is also President of the Ghana
Football Association, is challenged by Djibrilla Hima Hamidou of Niger
Republic.
According to a statement
by Aka Malan, General Secretary of WAFU Zone B, the five candidates for next
month’s FIFA presidential election taking place in Zurich have also indicated
their interest in presenting their programs to the various FA presidents of the
Zone at the Congress.
Already confirmed to be
on ground to talk to the WAFU chieftains are Infantino, Prince Ali Hussein of
Jordan and Sheikh Salman. Former FIFA Deputy General Secretary Jerome
Champagne, also a candidate, will send a message to the Congress, while South
African Tokyo Sexwale is yet to confirm his arrival.
