Former Super Eagles striker, Jonathan Akpoborire, says the Nigeria Football Federation,NFF, should employ a foreign whose philosophy of football tally or suitable to the Super Eagles style of play.
The Ambassador of Startimes Nigeria, who noted that Jose Mourinho was suitable to Chelsea FC, Pep Guardiola, fits FC Barcelona, said the Nigeria Football Federation should endeavor to thoroughly look for a foreign whose Curriculum Vitae was suitable to the team and not foreign coaches in the mould of Joe Bonfere, Clemence Westerhof, Lars Largerback.
" In my own view, if you want Super Eagles to play, we need a foreign who has a philosophy of what the nation is looking for". A coach whose philosophy of football fit the style of play of Super Eagles.Mourinho fits Chelsea FC, Pep Gaurdiola suits FC Barcelona".
While admitting that none of the nation's indigenous coaches had failed the country, Akpoborire, said there were enough credible foreign in Europe whose depth of modern football techniques would aid the growth of football in Nigeria.
'' None of the indigenous coaches have failed. No need to re-cycle coaches, thus if the NFF have money, they should go abroad and employ the best. The best European coaches are not Lars Largerback, Clemence Westerhof, Bonfere Joe.''
''Nigeria is big enough to employ the best coaches in Europe since other African countries employ the best, so why not Nigeria, he asked.
He added that it would be a shame if the NFF fails to employ the best foreign coaches since other African countries were employing top class foreign coaches, adding that the NFF must employ a coach till the next edition of FIFA World Cup or after the world's soccer mundial.
''Good time to start organizing quality friendlies during the holidays where some of the Super Eagles players will be excused by their clubs management but the NFF has to impose on them and it must draw a programme to keep them busy''
He advised the NFF to take advantage of the FIFA free- windows to play quality international friendlies and also create an enabling environment where Nigeria's Super Eagles players while on vacation would converge on a particular nation to train and play friendlies.
''The Egypt national team missed some Africa Cup Nations but the team is back for real. The Egyptian Football Federation used the period to organize their national team without changing its coaches as the NFF does. The NFF has to finally employ a coach till the FIFA World Cup or after the World Cup"'
He observed that Egypt national team, having failed to qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations,Afcon, delved into similar programme without sacking its coach and it pave the way for the team to qualify for the twenty- seventeen Gabon Africa Cup of Nations.
