Lagos State Sports Commission Endorses Monopoly As A Sport.

The Lagos State Sports Commission,LSSC, has endorsed Monopoly as an official sport in the state.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Sports, Deji Tinubu, who made this statement on Thursday at the launch of Monopoly Game in the state, says the birth of the games is a partnership between the Commission and Bestman Games.
Tinubu, said the vision of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was to create an enabling environment for engaging the youths in positive endeavors which would help them to become one of the world's great leaders, hence the reason why the Commission partnered with Bestman Games, to make Monopoly as an official sport.
He said the mandate of the Sports Commission was to create opportunities for the youths to get involve in sports and also to expose them to modern training techniques to become world's class athletes.
The Chief Executive Officer of Bestman Games, Nimi Akinkugbe, said Monopoly as a sport, would offer immense educational value, since it was an excellent vehicle for teaching real life lessons, communication skills and critical thinking for both the young and old.
According to her, two thousand students from one hundred schools in the state would compete in the City of Lagos Under Seventeen Monopoly Championship scheduled to begin in September at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.
She explained that Besman Games had trained one hundred teachers from one hundred schools in a programme tagged Train- the- Trainer scheme to prepare the children for the City of Lagos Under Seventeen Monopoly Championship.
She commended Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, for investing in the next generation and for understanding, appreciating the value of Monopoly Game as one of the platforms that could shape the characters, entrepreneurial acumen of Monopoly players.
