
Bablo Street Of Awuwo Odofin Local Government has won season Three of the MTN Street Soccer Championship after beating Bibire Street of Igando Ikotun Local Council Development Area through penalties in a competition which climaxed on Sunday at the Campos Square Mini Stadium,Lagos Island.
The victory was an indication that Amuwo Odofin Local Government is becoming a veteran in the competition having won the maiden edition with a trip to Brazil, clinching the fourth position in the second edition but the Local Government restrategise to place the council in a vantage position ahead of other councils in the state as the council through Bablo Street showed that they are the king of Five - A - Side football.
Abiodun Olateju of Bibire Street scored the first goal in the first half of the Five - A- Side Football competition as Azzez Mohammed scored Bablo Street equaliser in the second half to make the scoreline One goal apiece.
To reach the final,Bablo Street beat Adeniji Street by three goals to two just as Bibire Street defeated Oredein street of Oshodi Local Government by two goals to One on penalties.
In the best of three penalty, Bablo Street scored two goals as Bibire Street managed to score a goal to pave the way for Bablo Street to grab a sum of Five million naira as the star prize money attached to the event couple with a giant trophy in addition to a tour of South Africa while Bibire Street still book its flight tickets to South Africa with the second position with a dummy cheque of Three million naira.
The team Chief Coach, Ikechukwu Osuji, who thanked God for crowing the team's efforts in the Third Season of MTN StreetSoccer Championship, attributted the team's feat to hard work and dedication.
Osuji, whose team was defeated in the round of thirty two in the second edition, said the defeat in the second edition spurred him to regenerate the squad that qualified won the event having defeated Bibire Street that lost the tournament to mother luck because they were in good frame of mind to lift the tournament's trophy with the quality o players in their possession.
Osuji, said the tour of South Africa would add value to the players career as they would see their football idols live in South Africa and also acquire sskillto make them better football players.
In the third place match, Adeniji Adele street of Lagos Island went home with a dummy cheque of two million naira after beating Oredein Street by two goals to One.
