BRF Wins Sarah Sosan Female Tournament.

The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Princess Adebisi Sarah Sosan, has promised to establish a virle structure which would pave the way for the growth of female football through the competition.

The State's Deputy Governor, who made this statement yesterday while speaking with sportsweight.blogspot.com, said the competition would be named Deputy Governor's Cup in a bid to sustain the tournamnet after she might be out of office.

Sosan, said the need to uplift the standard of the female football in the state encouraged her to sponsor the event in conjuction with the Lagos Island Youth sports Association and also to create a platform for the players to exhibit their skills to the admiration of sports scouts.

The Deputy Governor, said she had discussed with the state's commissioner for sports, Prince Ademola Adeniji- Adele, to invite some of the good players discovered in the tournament to camp in preparation to the National Sports Festival zonal elimination in Ogun State.


Meanwhile, Babatunde Raji Fashola Queens has won the maiden edition of the Princess Sarah Adebisi Sosan Female Football Competition.

The team defeated Aspiration Queens of Yaba Local Council Development Area by three unreplied goals, in a match played Thursday at the Campos Square Mini Stadium, Lagos Island.

A minute silence was observed in honour of late President Umar Musa Yar'Aua.

Aspirant Queens of Yaba LCDA took control of the fisrt half but their efforts to score goals was curtailed by the BRF Queens who fought hard at the resumption of second half to win the match.

Azeez Oshoala, who missed glaring scoring chances in the first half scored a brace as in the second half after Aminat Yakubu increased the tally to three in a match which attracted hundreds of soccer fans to the stadium.

Oshoala, who was adjudged the highest goal scorer with eleven goals, said her priority was to join the Nigeria's Under seventeen team, Flamingoes.

Oshoala who is also the competition's Most Valuable Player she would work hard on her goal scoring to make impact in the national team.

In the third place match, YMD Queens which lost to BRF Queens in the semi final clash defeated Iko Queens by unreplied goals.
