Godson Uti Chatters Orphanages Moment Of Joy.

The organisers of the second edition of the Kidsports Charity Cup for Orphanage has expressed their displeasure over the unruly attitude of the Facilities Manager of the Teslim Balogun Stadium,Godson Uti, for disstrupting the final of the tournament billed for the Campos Square Mini Stadium, Lagos Island.

The tournament which was designed for the orphanage to feel the sense of belonging and also to enjoy playing football but it was a show of shame that the event took another dimension yesteray at the newly renovated Ajele Playground as the orphanages in Lagos were disappointed for their inability to express themselves through soccer .

Godson Uti, who in all ramification should have sympathy on the less privileged walked into the field of play depreiving them to display their skills since he is under the influence of the power that be in the state.

Godson Uti claims was that All Stars which has Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola as its member would be playing at the Campos Stadium, thus the match has to be concluded abruptly but after appealing to him, Uti now ordered the organisers to play penalty to determine the eventual winner which is contrary to the rules and regulations of the sport.

Some of the Orphanages who spoke on the Uti’s maltreatment, said it was a shame that Uti had to behave in such a manner at a time when FIFA gave South Africa the rights to host the World Cup in June. stressing that the tournament would have been an avenue to showcase their talents prior to the soccer mundial, stressing that Uti should endeavour to tender a letter of apology to the organisers or face the wrath of God.

“In the next couple of weeks, the world would be glued to their screen watching the FIFA World Cup and we consider this event as a mini world cup for ourselves to facilitate with each other and also to create an everlasting relationship.

According to the organisers, the tournament had the backing of the state’s government through the office of the state’s commissioner for sports, Prince Ademola Adeniji Adele, who was represented by the Chairman of the State’s Sports Council, Agboola Dabiri, as the State’s Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Grassroot Sports, Prince Wale Oladunjoye, was also at the Campos Stadium to give support to the competition.

The tournament which had a total of Eight orphanages football team taking part in the event was distrupted when the second Semi final was about to take place between Ajike Ayisat Afolabi Foundation of and Safe Our Soul.



The questions on the lips of the organisers was that” would Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, who is passionate about the welfare of Lagosians drive away the Orhanages who had done everything to make use of the befitting complex or is Godson Uti being mischievous of his office to deprieve the less privileged”

Uti deed had been done but the tournament had placed on records that Ajike Ayisat Afolabi Foundation of Idimu emerged winner after beating Safe Our Soul of Isolo on penalties in the second edition of the Kidsport Charity Cup for orphanages which came closed over the weekend at the Campos Square Mini Stadium, Lagos Island.

This year’s charity cup which was supported by the Lagos State Ministry of the youths, sports and social development, Hitv,Nigeria Bottling Company and Indomie was a delight to really behold.

While responding, the coordinator of the project, Miss Bukola Alabi, who was closed to tears for Uti ungodly and irresponsible attitude, sincerely thanked her sponsors for their support and care, said the Orphans need to be supported with series of sporting activities to keep them in good shape and also to make them feel the sense of belonging.

She urged corporate bodies and private individuals to give adequate support to the KidsportsCharity Cup for plans are in top gear to make it a yearly regular competition.
