Golden Chance Lotto Football Competition Starts On Saturday

The draws to usher the second edition of te Golden Chance Lotto Football Competition has been conducted as twenty grassroot football clubs across Lagos State will slug it out as the tournamnet will start on Saturday at the Lagos State Techical College, Agidingbi.

The tournament's coordinator, Lukman Tijani, said over forty football clubs showed interest to feature in the tournament but only twenty football clubs were accreditted to participate in the event after they were being screened.

According to the fixtures, all the participating teams have been paired in five group of four teams as Boulos Football Club have been scheduled to play Young Star in the first match as Chembody Football Clu will slug it out with Dynamite Football Club just as Spartans Football Club will challenge Brass Football Club while G Change will face Labro Football Club.

Tijani, informed sportsweight.blogspot.com that two teams would scale through to the next round in a round robin matches as another draws would be conducted for the round of sixteen as the best eight teams would scale through to Quarter final.

He said the competition's rules and regualations had been distributed to all the teams participating in the event as severe sanction await any team that fail to comply with the directive.

Meanwhile, the Management of Golden Chance Lotto hs said that their involvement in the grassroot football compeition is to give Nigeria's young football players an opportunity to display their talents to the admiration of soccer scouts.

Its Managing Director, Charles Aurthur, said Nigeria is blessed with abundant football players and there is need to create a platform where the players would have opportunity to express their skills, adding that lack of regular football competitions in Nigeria have affected the growth of grassroot football.

Aurthur, said footbsll was the most prestige sports among others and this move has encouraged the company to contribute its quota towards the improvement of the sport as he urged other corporate bodies to emulate the company's gesture and sponsor a particular sport in a bid to help uplift the standard of sports.

According to Aurthur, the need to encourage corporate bodies to organise regular tournaments became imperative because most of the world's renowned football players were products of grassroot football and Nigeria would not be an exception following the talents that are abound in Nigeria.

He advised the players featuring in the tournament to be focused and be determined to reach greater height in their chosen profession.

He commended Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola for his determination to regenerate te standard of sports in Lagos State and the move has been able to empower the young football players.
