

Ebonyi and Enugu States have confirmed their superiority at the Atlantic Conference final of this year’s Nestle Milo Secondary Schools Basketball Championship.
Both teams showed their class ahead of other teams that jostled for places in the grand finale of the championship holding in Lagos later in the year.
Sportsweight.blogspot.com, confirmed that in the final of the boys’ event at the Atlantic Conference, St Augustine Seminary, Ebonyi defeated Marise Brothers Juniorate, Abia 49- 46 to emerge as the conference champion.
While the girls’ team from Annunciation Secondary School , Enugu overcame Royal Girls Academy of Port Harcourt 25 -14 to confirm their place in the Lagos grand finale.
Being the host of the regional confab, the Enugu girls enjoyed massive support from the home fans to surmount the Rivers State team in the fierce final. However, Owerri Girls Secondary School settled for the third place at the conference.
Eight teams took part in the Atlantic conference with teams from Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River , Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Imo, Anambra and Abia states contending for the conference title.
Meanwhile, participating teams have started honing their skills ahead of the Western and Central conference finals holding in Ibadan and Ilorin respectively.
International School , Lagos, ISL and Ilupeju Grammar School are the teams that will represent Lagos State in the Western Conference final of the Championship scheduled for Ibadan , the Oyo State capital, this month.
The ISL male team overcame Ilupeju Grammar School 49-24 in the state final while Ilupeju girls beat Christ the King International School to lift the title in the girls division.
With the victory, the Ernest Ijeomah-tutored ISL team confirmed its supremacy in the game, having won this year’s Ivy League, Doregos and the Lagos Sports Month Festival.
The team is aiming to qualify for the Milo grand final in Lagos by coming tops at the Western conference.
Ilorin , the Kwara State capital, will host the Central Conference where teams from Bauchi, Nasarawa, Kaduna , Abuja , Niger , Plateau, Benue and Gombe states will compete for places in the grand finale.
The regional finals in Central and Western conferences will hold from the 18th to 24th of this month.
