The Lagos state Pool Association, LASPA, will be making its entrant as a competitive event into the sporting association of the vibrant Lagos State Sports Council.
This will be the second association within the last three months that will be admitted into the fold of the Lagos Sports Council.
In its fulfillment of the policy of the Lagos state Governor, Babatunde Fashola, through the Ministry of youths, sports and social development is determined to use sport as a tool to drive and empower the youths to desist from social ill and vices that has plague the society by taking them off the street.
Pool is a cue sport which entails using sticks called cues to pocket balls of different colour into six holes on the sides and corners of a rectangular table.
According to the chairman, Lagos State Pool Association, Olusola Mogaji, the vision of the sport is to use the game to inspire young adults into playing various important roles in schools, communities and the nation.
Mogaji said aside discovering budding talents through this game, it would be an opportunity to create life changing experience through their proposed pool academy scheduled for 2012 with the ultimate goal of creating employments for the un-employed and hope to our youths.
The State Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Prince Ademola Adeniji Adele, will lead Chief Molade Okoya Thomas, the former Head Of Service, Lagos State Govt, Alhaji Yakub Balogun, Agboola Dabiri, Chairman, Lagos state sports council and Alhaji femi Okunnu to the inauguration and Media Launch tagged "Let's Go Bowling"
