
The Minister for Sports, Ibrahim Isa Bio, has charged members of the Presidential Advisory Committee for football development in Nigeria to develop a blue print for the growth of the game in the country.
The chairman of the committee is Muhammadu Kadiri, Danladi Bako is the vice while Are Ademola is the secretary.
Other members are Mitchel Obi, Samson Siasia, Jani Ibrahim, Seyi Akinwunmi, Austin Okocha, Felix Okojie, Kachalla Gana, Jamila Buhari and former sports minister Sani Ndanusa.
The Minister who doubles as the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, urged the Committee to identify other viable sources of funding the sport and make other recommendations towards the development of the game.
Bio gave this charge yesterday in Abuja while formally inaugurating the 11-man committee stating that they have four months to submit their report.
Sportsweight.blogspot.com, reports that the Minister informed the Committee that the drastic measure had to be taken without delay to avert a total collapse of the sport, adding that events and development in recent past concerning the administration of football in Nigeria was beginning to assume a tragic dimension.
Bio said number of factors ranging from maladministration, mismanagement, misappropiration of funds, insubordination, lack of focus and the general lackadaisical attributed to the unenviable performance at the nineteenth edition of the FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
The minister said it was disheartening that while Nigerians were traumatized owing to the lackluster performance of the Super Eagles at the world cup, the NFF leadership was busy canvassing and strategizing for re-election.
