Lagos SWAN Supports President Goodluck Jonathan Ban On National Teams.

Lagos Chapter of Spports Writters Association of Nigeria, SWAN, has supported the decision of President Goodluck Jonathan, to withdraw the national teams from featuring in international competitions following the dismal outing of Super Eagles at the ongoing World Cup.

The President having been briefed by the Presidential Task Force on the reason why the Super Eagles perfomed poorly at the soccer mundia, ordered the withdrawal of National teams from international competitions, a move which FIFA condemned as the Federation warned Nigeria to desist from the action or face sanction.

While speaking at the emergency congress on Friday, which attracted enough Lagos SWAN members, the Association Secretary General, Fred Edoreh, said the President decision was in the interest of the national and it is geared at regeneration the nation's football.

Edoreh, said the congress agreed that the decision would pave the way for Nigeria to regenerate its standard to international standard where the abundant talents would be harness while football administrators, football coaches would have opportunity t change the face of Nigerian football.

According to him, the congress advised the President to be ensure that there are meaningful changes within the stipulated two years and tht he should be wary of football sychophants who would approach him to reverse his decision.

Bearing his mind on the issue, the Association's former chairman, Frank Ilaboya, said President Goodluck Jonathan, has reliefed the burden of Nigerian soccer enthusiasts who have been clamouring for changes in the borad of NFF.

Ilaboya, said Nigerian soccer enthusiasts should endeavor to to look beyond what impact the President's decision would have on the various national teams and Nigerian clubsides that had scale dthrough to the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
