LASPOTECH Wins Lagos Inter-Tertiary Games

Lagos State Polytechnic, LASPOTECH, made a good defence of the Lagos Inter-Tertiary Games the institution won last year as they defied all odds to win the 2010 edition that ended on Saturday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.

LASPOTECH led the medal table at the end of the weeklong championship with 8 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals as University o Lagos, Unilag, settled for the second position with 5 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze medals.

Third position went to Yaba College of Technology with 4 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals.

Lagos State University, LASU came third with 2 gold, 2 silver and 9 bronze medals. Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education came fourth with 1 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medal.

In the fifth position is Army School of Finance and Administration with 1 gold medal, while sixth position went to St. Augustine College of Education with 2 bronze medals.

In a football match to close the weekelong tournament, Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education,AOCOED, won the football gold after defeating LASU 4- 2 through penalty shoot out after the match ended One goal apiece in the regulation time at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos on Saturday.

The football bronze medal went to LASPOTECH, who walloped Federal Technical College, Technical, Akoka, 5- nil.


Meanwhile, the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Princess Serah Sosan, has said that said that the administration of Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola is aware of the talents in the higher institution in the state, hence the Inter- Tertiary Games to discover these talents with handsome reward for winners.

The Deputy Governor, who made this statement at the closing ceremony of the State's Inter Tertiary Games through the Permanent Secretary, Kunle Ajanaku, said the government has plans to consolidate on the achievements of the competition.

Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, LOC, Prince ‘Wale Oladunjoye, said the 3rd edition of the competition would be held between November and December as directed by the governor that the tourney should be held twice in a year.

He commended all the participating schools and their officials for exhibiting high level of sportsmanship. He also thanked the authorities of the schools that took part in the competition for their support.
