The family of Super Eagles defender, Olubayo Adefemi, has regarded the death of the football player as a rude shock especially at a time when he was planning for his wedding ceremony billed for next month. Our sports correspondent, Yinka Adebayo, who visited the deceased family hosue located at Palm Avenue, Ogolonto,Ikorodu, reports that Olubayo's mother, Mrs Titilayo Adefemi and the family members as well as sympathizers were in sorrowful mood mourning the death of a young Nigerian football player.

While speaking, the family's eldest son, Abiodun Adefemi, said they got to know about his death when the family was called to ascertain if it is true that Olubayo was dead, a move which prompted them to call Olubayo's club of which the club's management confirmed his death and promised to relate with them on burial plans.

He said the family was pained about his death because Olubayo is still young and agile to uplift the family's name and also help the nation team to win laurels at any major international competition.

Adefemi, said the Nigeria Football Federation had been informed about Olubayo's death and they had promised to contact the family so as to render positive assistance, stressing that the Greece Embassy in conjunction with Xanthi Skoda had agreed to convey Olubayo's remain back to Nigeria.

NFF Spokesperson, Ademola Olajire, said Olubayo's death was received with rude shock and that the Federation's would not relent in its efforts in assisting the family to organise a befitting burial.

Olubayo, 25, started his football career with Racing F.C before moving to Delta United after which he returned to Racing F.C to join Hapoel Jerusalem, Hapoel Tel Aviv, Bnei Lod, Rapid Bucares, U S Boulogne and Xanthi Skoda.
