Former Captain of Nigeria's Super Eagles, Kanu Nwankwo, has appealed to the Super Eagles technical crew and the players to honor Olubayo Adefemi by beating Argentina in an international friendly billed for first of June at the National Stadium, Abuja and the return leg tie against Ethiopia in the African Nations Cup qualifier.
Nankwo, said the feat would serve as a mark of honor for the deceased football player who during his playing days as Super Eagles defender showed commitment and zeal to help the team excel in major tournaments.
He said the friendly would help the Super Eagles to further prepare better
for the African Nations Cup and also surpass the team's records in recent continental soccer fiesta, stressing that the Argentina national team are among the best football playing nations that could put Samson Siasia team on the team on the test of reality.
While noting that the deceased football player has what it takes to become a regular Super Eagles defender, Nwankwo said the death of the Xanthi Skoda was a big loss to Nigeria because he was one of the young players whom he believed would form the nucleus of new Super Eagles.
