Liberia force Dream Team to 1-1 draw

The national under 23 team, Dream Team, was forced to a 1-1 draw by hosts Liberia on Saturday night in the first leg of their 2011 All-Africa Games qualifying fixture.

The Liberians employed all manner of underhand antics and pranks to try and weaken the morale of the Nigeria team before the match, including delaying the team at the Roberts International Airport for three hours on arrival and putting the delegation in a hotel without electricity or power-generating set.

Yet, the Dream Team took the lead in the first half when electrifying forward Danny Uchechi picked himself up from being infringed upon in the penalty box to slot the resultant kick home.

The Nigerians dominated but could not increase the tally before the end of first half. Liberia equalized in the 63rd minutes of the encounter through Johnson Samuel.

Both teams clash again in the return leg at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City next week Saturday.
