
Nigeria National Under 23 side, was warmly received on Wednesday at Benin airport on arrival from Lagos to begin preparations in earnest for the must win return leg second round Olympic game qualifier against the Vijana Stars of Tanzania.
The Coach Austin Eguavoen tutored side hit Benin with fifteen players following the return of some players to their clubs in Europe.
The team's coach,Austin Eguavoen, said invitation has been extended to Rabiu Ibrahim who has since recovered from the knee injury he sustained during an All Africa games qualifier against Liberia in Monrovia,adding that he had also invited VVV Venlo winger Ahmed Musa and his Dutch club mate Okey Uchebo.
Ahead of the June 18th game against Tanzania, Eguavoen, said the duo of Nosa Igiebor and Anthony Ujah remains a major doubt for the match due to club commitment.
Meanwhile, the Dream Team V, will begin full scale preparations for the June 18th game on Thursday with one training session.
The Team is camped at the newly opened magnificent Prestige Hotel in GRA, Benin City.
According to the Team Media officer, Arafat Aliu, Coach Austin Eguavoen has excused, Nurudeen Orelesi to return to Albania to finalise on his club contract deal.
Fatai Kehinde was also granted permission to return to feature in his club’s league game this weekend, while Azuka Izu has joined up with his club Al- Ittihad of Libya in Ijebu Ode for their CAF confederations cup game against Sunshine stars.
Enyimba’s Usman Amoda, Kwara United’s Kabiru Sanusi and Afelokhia Theophilus of Kano Pillars have been asked to join the Dream Team Camp in Benin.
The Winner from the Nigeria/Tanzania game will qualify for a mini eight nation tournament that would determine the first three Africa representatives for the London 2012 Olympics.
While the fourth team from the tournament will engage an Asian side in a playoff.
