Maigari: There is no crisis in Nigeria football

Written By sportsweight.blogspot.com on Sunday, June 12, 2011 | 11:56 PM

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Aminu Maigari, has declared that there is no crisis in Nigerian football, saying those who feel otherwise must have something else in mind.

“There is no crisis whatsoever. Those talking about crisis are seeing something else aside from what we all see and what we all know to be the truth.

“The way you see things depends on your outlook to life. You know, some people prefer to see a half-empty Cup instead of a half-filled one. The difference is that those who see half-empty Cup expect it to get empty, while those who see the half-filled expect it to be filled. That is the difference between being negative and being positive.

“We are positive that Nigeria football is headed for far greater heights and we are focused on the immediate challenges of getting our Beach Soccer team to do well at the African Championship in Morocco, the Super Falcons to do well at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany, the Flying Eagles to perform creditably at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia and the Super Eagles to qualify for the 2012 African Cup of Nations.

“The matter of some persons trying in vain to set up a so-called parallel body has been decisively addressed by the Congress of Nigeria football. We respect the resolve of the National Sports Commission to seek advice from FIFA on this matter and trust that at the end of everything, peace will return in order for our programmes to be executed without any distractions”, stated Maigari.

Maigari, said the present board of NFF was positive and focused on the immediate challenges of getting the nation's Beach Soccer team to perform better at the African Championship in Morocco, the Super Falcons to excell at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany, the Flying Eagles to perform creditably at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia and the Super Eagles to qualify for the 2012 African Cup of Nations.

He said the action of the National Association of Nigerian Footballers,NANF, to set up a so-called parallel body has been decisively addressed by the Congress of Nigeria football, stressing that the NFF respect the resolve of the National Sports Commission to seek advice from FIFA.

He believed that peace would return with the intervention of the NSC, thus, the NFF programmes would be executed without any distraction.
