
Nigeria's representative in the African Club Championship in the female category has made the country proud after emerging the champion in the Women's team event which came to an end on Monday in Rabat, Morroco.
The team which comprises of Nigeria's number female ping ponger, Effiong Edem, Cecilia Otu and Janet Friday, sponsored by the Cross River State Government defeated Congo Brazaville in the Semi final and their arch rival, Egpyt in the final.
While speaking with Sportsweight.blogspot.com, Offiong Edem, who was elated over the feat, said they were determined to win the tourney after she was unable to achieve her desire in the African Singles event which climaxed last week in Morroco.
She thanked the Cross River State Government for its unflinching support to feature in the tourney,stressing that the team's chief coaach, Richard Edem and the Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation, Honourable Orok Otuk Duke motivated them to victory.
Meanwhile, representative of the country in Men's event, Union Bank Table Tennis Club came third after losing to Congo Brazaville.
The team's Head Coach, Samson Kolawole Ajayi, commended the team's spirit for picking the third position as he praised the bank's management for paving the way for the ping pongers to feature in the event.
