
SuperSport has promised to offer Nigerians the chance to track the progress of their stars in Europe’s premier club football competition starting from next month.
Sportsweight.blogspot.com, reports that SuperSport recently extended broadcasting rights to the UEFA Champions League, Super Cup and Europa League through to the 2014/15 season for the entire Sub-Saharan Africa region
The Managing Director of Multichoice Nigeria, Joe Hundah said that the company was glad that the Champions’League was back with SuperSport on DStv, which is the traditional home of the best sports content in the world.
With Vincent Enyeama, Taye Taiwo and Emmanuel Emenike all having recently made big money moves to the French, Italian and Turkish champions, Hundah, said the move had increased Nigerian participation in the Champions League, as he explained that SuperSport would be significantly upping its Champions League High Definition offering with two live matches broadcast in HD per match day compared to one in past seasons.
Having broadcast over 1000 live matches last season ranging from the Barclays Premier League, the Nigerian Premier League, La Liga, the Bundesliga and Kenya Premier League (KPL), the World of Champions has set its sights on the magical figure of 1,200.
Speaking on the challenge of delivering on the promise of 1200 live matches, the General Manager of SuperSport Nigeria, Felix Awogu said it was a challenge that the company are happy to take up.
He said the recent influx of young and exciting Nigerian talent into the Bundesliga, like Chinedu Obasi at Hoffenhiem, Macauley Chrisantus at FSV Frankfurt and Anthony Uja at FSV Mainz, has greatly enhanced the league’s continental appeal.
