Deepwater Basketball Vows To Retain Zenith Bank League

First Deepwater Basketball Club has declared its readiness to the league title it won last year after stopping First Bank dominance of the Nigeria women league for 10 years.

The team's General Manager, Babatunde Babalola, said the club's management had acquired a brand new coastal bus to motivate the basketball players to excel at the topurney.

The team's Coaches Lateef Erinfolami and Shola Ogunade tutored side depart Lagos for Akure monday ahead the 2nd phase which is expected to run from August 3 - 14 in Akure Ondo State capital.

Deepwater Basketball Club are the defending champion of the league and currently lead the nine other teams in the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) organised league, thanks to a game forfeited by First Bank Basketball Club over the usage of ineligible player against Dolphin Basketball League.

First Deepwater Basketball Club is in its third season in the Zenith Bank league finishing second it her first outing and going on to win the FIBA Africa Zone-3 qualifier same year in Abidjan Cote d'Ivoire.

The team is seventh over-all at the final round of the FIBA Africa Champions Cup in Cotonou, Benin Republic.
