New basketball stars are set to be unearthed at the inaugural chairman' s cup basketball championship dunking off at the Nigerian police college basketball court from December 27th to 30th 2011.
The championship is being put together by the police basketball association in conjunction with the Rookies Academy.
The championship will feature premier league players and other matured players in a team and each team is not expected to feature not more than three premier league player on the court at a time and complimented by two non league players.
Assistant commissioner of police, Moses Jitoboh the sponsor and chairman of the Nigerian Police Basketball Association aims to use the competition to develop young talents in the police force and the immediate community.
The wish of the organizers is to unearth more stars like Togun Michael, Churchill Odia, Joel Okafor, Peter Odia, Akin Akintunde, Grace Okonkwo, Blessing Amos amongst others, who are products of the Nigerian police Basketball Association and have gone on to represent the country at international level.
