Go Round Football Club of Port Harcourt on Monday maintained its winning streak at the on-going Best of the Eight Amateur clubs that gained promotion into the Nigeria National League (the pro cadre).

The Club piped Akwa Starlet of Uyo 1-0 at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna to earn maximum six points from two matches. The team had on Sunday whitewashed Flash Flamingo of Gombe 4-1.

Gray International FC of Ede, Osun State follows closely with three points from one match having defeated Sardauna Kano Football Club by a lone goal, also on Monday evening.

Akwa Starlet and Sardauna Kano FC, both tied on the same points, played a goalless draw on Sunday and respectively lost by 0 - 1 to Go Round FC and Gray International of Ede. Flash Flamingo of Gombe is yet to earn a point. Sokoto United, Kogi United and Ila FC of Osogbo are not taking part in the tournament.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Amateur League, Alh. Ahmed Muazu Kawu said at the opening ceremony of the week-long tournament that the competition, the first of its kind, is being organised to determine the best among the eight clubs moving from the Amateur League to the National League.

The tournament is being played on round robin basis.
