NFF Unveils Ikhana as Super Falcons’ Head Coach

Written By sportsweight.blogspot.com on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 | 12:14 AM

Former Under 23 National Head Coach, Kadiri Ikhana, will officially be unveiled as Head Coach of Super Falcons.

Ikhana’s appointment as Head Coach of the Super Falcons was ratified by the NFF Executive Committee at its emergency meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, March 28. The 1980 African Cup of Nations winner will be on a four-year contract.

The Falcons remain Africa’s strongest team, with six wins out of seven African Women Championships since 1998, and having represented the continent in all FIFA Women’s World Cup since 1991, and at the Olympic Games in 2000, 2004 and 2008.

With the Falcons’ strangely failing to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games in London, after a penalty shoot-out defeat by Cameroon, Ikhana has a job to turn around the fortunes of the team and ensure that Nigeria not only qualifies for the World Cup, but starts to make appreciable impact at all global tournaments.
