Eko Football Festival Will Showcase Lagos'

 ‘The Lagos State Football Association, organisers of the first ever Eko Football Festival has assured Lagosians that the fiesta which is slated to hold in September this year is a solid platform to further boost the good image of Lagos State before the world and to confirm it's position as a football tourism destination.

The LSFA Chairman, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi on Thursday stated that the benefits of hosting the Eko Football Festival are enormous especially as it coincides with the Soccerex Seminar Lagos which will attract numerous guests from outside the State and outside the country who will witness the Festival.

The LSFA Chairman gave the assurance that the organisation of the Eko Football Festival will be first class and a pride to Lagos State.

He noted that Lagos State has a lot of potentials in the areas of football tourism and that the LSFA are prepared to showcase this to the local people and the guests so that the next edition of the Festival will be a must attend event for fun lovers and particularly football tourists.

Mr. Akinwunmi said, “The Eko Football Festival is going to be a fun event packed with lots of football, food, music and other entertainment. We are putting together an international Under 17, 5 a side competition, Celebrities' football matches, a 5 a side match between an Eko Football Team (which we hope will be captained by his Excellency, The Executive Governor of Lagos State Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN) and an International All Stars Team.

For the children we have an Eko Football Future Stars competition comprising of a schools Under 13 and under 15 tournament which though will commence on the 1st of September, will be concluded on Sunday the 30th of September, a day  reserved for the children and which is tagged "Future Stars @ The Eko Football Festival".

He noted that leading the bill of Stars to perform at the Eko Football Festival are Whizkid and Naeto C. He said many more celebrities including other music stars, comedians, dancers who will provide real entertainmentat the event.

He also promised to invite numerous almost forgotten Nigerian ex-internationals who will make guest appearances and provide photo opportunities with the guests at the Eko Football Festival.

The Lagos State FA Boss hinted further that the list of countries that are interested in the Eko Football has continued to grow as some West African clubs have indicated their readiness to be part of the event.

He promised to provide more information as the event draws nearer.
