Fashola Calls For Regeneration Of Nigerian Sports.

Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, has charged the National Sports Commission that the nation's population of One hundred and fifty million should stand as a vital instrument to discover athletes who would become world champions in their chosen sporting endeavors.

"This is a time to rebuild, plan for nature of over 150 million is a big human resource to find athletes that who beat any other athlete in the world. If we plan and do not deceive our leaders that we could win laurels without preparations sports is dear to my heart because i know the spirit it has to galvanize peace, happiness." said Fashola

Fashola, who is the Head of Security Sub Committee of the Local Organising Committee of the EKO 2012 Games, claimed that Nigeria's athletes could become world's best if the nation's sports administrators were upright and transparent in their dealings with the leaders over the ability of their wards while competing in international events, stressing that  the nation's sports administrators should delve into rigorous preparations prior to any international organised sporting events.

"We should depart from the path we have work for too long, the path of unpreparedness and we rely on prayers, God is a just God who rewards a prepared and hard working nations, playing and application. "

The Governor, said the nation's sports administrators should depart from the path of unpreparedness than relying on God, stressing that God is a just God who rewards a prepared and hard working nations.

He said the forthcoming 18th National Sports Festival tagged EKO 2012 should be seen as a harvest for talents that should lead to the African Championships, to the Commonwealth Games as well as the Olympic Games, adding that the country's sports administrators should ensure that the National Sports Festival meet the purpose it designed for.

"I can only believe that those who conceived this games sees it as a harvest for talents and this should have led to the African championships to the Commonwealth Games.Then we would have found our athletes in the Olympic.I hope, one day, we would find our way back to synchronising the Games for the purpose it set for."

According to him, Nigeria should start building a new generation of athletes like Chioma Ajunwa, Mary Onyali, Innocent Egbuniki,Jay Jay Okocha, Henry Anike and Patrick Ekeji  to take the country to its pride as a nation golbaaly in the arena of sports, adding that Nigeria should vote for a renaissance in sports with the EKO 2012 Games since this year's edition of the Games is Eighteen time to host the competition.

"It would be nice to win but it would be perhaps much more successful for us if we could find the likes of Chioma Ajunwa's, Mary Onyali's, Innocent Egbuniki's,Jay Jay Okocha's, Henry Anike's and also particle Ekeji who would bear our torch again and take us to our pride as a nation globally in the arena of sports. That would be the biggest success for hosting this tournament."
