On Tuesday evening however, FENIFOOT officials reveal that not less than eight foreign based players will feature in the encounter against Nigeria, that is a precursor to their Nations Cup cliff-hanger against Guinea on September 9.
Ahmad Dauda, an official of FENIFOOT, explained that because the game has been listed on FIFA site and it would be used for ranking of both national teams, its no longer a friendly.
“We like Nigeria but this is a game of football and friendship is out of it, because we don’t want to lose to Nigeria”, he said.
Among Niger players already in camp are Etoile Du Sahel of Tunisia’s Nouse Naazou, Afrique Du Sudan’s Dauoda Kasali, Club AFricaine of Tunisia Kailou Daouda, Souse Fc of Tunia’s Koffi Du Kowo and Asseydou and their biggest import, Daloued Wonkoge, who plays for Feyenoord in the Dutch Eridivise.
A peep into their start list indicate that a player like Daouda, is expected in goal, Kader, Chikot, Mazadou and Soumaila normally man the defence. In the midfield we are expected to see the likes of Laouali, Lancina, Talatou and Isoufou, while the attack has A. Issoufou and Maazu as the hitmen.
From the Nigerian end, Chiegozie Agbim, will man the post and also skipper the team. Uzochukwu Ugonna will start from right back position, Juwon Oshaniwa from the left while Papa Idris and Azubuike Egwueke completes the back four.
Newly appointed Niger Coach, Ivorien Francoise Zahoui, will watch the international friendly from the stands as the last technical crew’s assistants led by a Frenchman will be fully in charge.
The development is to give the new coach an idea of the team he will be managing after recently penning a two year contract with FENIFOOT.
