President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Aminu Maigari, says an emphatic win by the Super Eagles over the Mena of Niger in tomorrow’s international friendly in Niamey will help the confidence of the home boys going into the preparations for the 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifying match against Liberia in September.
Speaking in Saudi Arabia where he is attending the Umrah, lesser hajj, Maigari stated that the performance of the home based Eagles against the Mena of Niger Republic would determine how many of them would be invited against Liberia in the African Nations Cup qualifier.
He said the Eagles must be aware that the Mena of Niger had already qualified for the final round of the African Nations Cup, thus they must not underrate them because there are no minnows in African football, stressin that they must according to their coach instructions so as to record victory in tomorrow' encounter.
Wednesday’s international friendly is the fifth the Super Eagles would play this year, after a 0-0 draw with Angola in Abuja, in January, 2011, 2-0 defeat of Liberia in Monrovia in February, 2-3 loss to Egypt in Dubai, in April and 0-1 loss to Peru in Lima, in May.
The match will start at 3.30pm (Nigeria and Niger share same time zone) at the Stade Seyni Kountche Stadium, Niamey.
