The Chairman of Media
& Publicity Committee of 18th National Sports Festival
tagged EKO 2012, Mr. Olawale Edun has promised media coming to cover the
Games, a world class media arena.
Speaking in Lagos, the
former commissioner of finance in Lagos integrated that all the
journalists coming for the event should not entertain any fear before,
during and after the events of a very good environment to work.
According
to him, each venue of the games will have a media centre with wireless
connectivity for easy forwarding of news to their different
organisations.
As part of duties of
the committee, it is to ensure that journalists enjoy coverage of the
various events. The committee is also working hard to get the service of
a world class electronic scoring and timing system, this will be the
first of its kind in the history of the National Sports Festival in
Nigeria.
Edun
hinted that the website (www.eko2012ng.com) which is already being
populated would also be updated events by events.
The
chairman of the Media, Publicity and Communications Sub-Committee urged
journalists who have not collected their accreditation forms to do so
at the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, (SWAN) Secretariat of the
National Stadium Complex, Surulere, Lagos.
“I want to assure all
the media that accreditation would be sorted out on or before October
15, 2012. He hinted that his main job is to ensure that all the
journalists coming over to cover the games are not facing any
difficulty.
As
part of the promises made by His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola
(SAN), the 18th National Sports Festival will be a media
friendly festival for every journalists both within and outside.
He noted that the
committee has mandated all its members to be prepared to work 24 hours
in order to ensure that they are available for journalists coming to the
games.
