Mikel Listed In CAF African Football Of The Year Award.

The Confederation of African Football, CAF , has announced the list of ten nominees for the African Player of the Year Award and the five players remaining in the run for Africa- based Player of the Year .
CAF’s Technical , Football and Media committees decided on the current shortlists which will now be passed on to head coaches and technical directors from CAF member associations whose votes will decide the eventual winners.
CAF will announce the top three in the last week of November.
Cote D'Ivoire international, Yaya Toure was voted 2011 African Player of the Year while Tunisian Oussam Darragi was crowned last year’s African Player of the Year,based in Africa
The winners will be unveiled at a ceremony on 20th of December in Accra, Ghana.
Super Eagles and Chelsea F.C midfielder,John Mikel Obi, has emerged as the only Nigerian football player shortlisted for the top ten of the 2012 African Footballer of the Year.
The list include Alexander Song of Cameroon, Andre Ayew of Ghana, Christopher Katongo of Zambia, Demba Ba of Senegal, Didier Drogba of Cote d'Ivoire.
Others are Gervinho of Cote d'Ivoire, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon, Younes Belhanda of Morocco and Yaya Toure of Cote d'Ivoire.
Mikel's nomination among the top ten on the continent this year is no doubt influenced by his yeoman role in Chelsea's win of the Uefa Champions League.
Two other Nigerian players, Victor Moses and John Utaka, who were in the 34-man shortlist, failed to reach the last ten.
The list of ten was decided by Caf's Technical, Football and Media committees and it "would now be passed on to head coaches and technical directors from Caf member associations whose votes will decide the eventual winners."
The ten names will be trimmed to the final three shortlist at the end of November before the winner is named at a ceremony on December 20 in Accra, Ghana.
