Lagos State Commissioner for Sports, Wahed Enitan Oshodi, has said that the Lagos Junior League is the future of Nigeria Football and it needs to be reciprocated across the country.
The state sports Commissioner said the Lagos Junior League was an advancement of the former Academical football with dynamic concepts of re-brand youth football in Nigeria where corporate bodies, government and sports philanthropists would support the league to widen the scope of Lagos Junior League.
While noting that the league has produced football players for the nation’s Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles, Oshodi said the league management team would working with notable football technocrats in a couple of months prior to next season on the need to eradicate age-cheat, soccer hooliganism among others, adding that the state government would put adequate measures in place to curb age-cheat in the league.
He explained that the presence of Aminu Maigari, the President of Nigeria Football federation, showed that they are on the right track of redeeming the image of Nigerian football, stressing that in the five year, the league would encourage most premier and Nigeria National League clubs to start their youth football academics.
He added that the league couple with EKO football gave the Lagos state government a great hope for the future as the state recorded excellent performance in the male and female categories at the Eko 2012 football event.
